Hyperactivity, procrastination and difficulty in concentration – we know that these are some of the particularities that are usually attributed to people with Hyperactivity Disorder and Attention Deficit (PHDA).
Still, it does not mean that they have no other skills – even more accurate. Some doctors cited by Your Tango reinforces that “you should not underestimate people with this neurodevelopment disorder”.
Meet some of the “skills that help these people face daily life, but that others consider completely exhaustive.”.
Note that even if you identify yourself, you should not make any kind of diagnosis based on these attributes.
Think outside the box and get creative ideas
Recent studies have shown that people with PHDA have “minds that naturally diverge more than others,” however, they bridge this phenomenon and “high levels of creativity.”.
“ In addition to bringing energy to what interests them, people with PHDA have an extraordinary ability to think outside the box for a long time.”.
A study conducted by Radboud University Medical Center in Holland described that in a clinical environment, this “mindless wandering” is identified “when a person’s mind departs from the present moment and pays more attention to self-produced inner thoughts. This allows the person to be more attuned to what the mind itself is generating outside external stimuli.”.
In addition, they clarify that it is thanks to this divagation that people with PHDA can position themselves better and perceive other points of view – which they define as a type of “air vision that does not lead to exhaustion”.
Depositing an impressive amount of energy into things you get excited about
Despite the “mental wave” described above, these people can also live divided between sharp energy peaks.
“Many struggle daily to find energy to do certain things, but people with ADHD can get to live bursts of energy, especially when something draws their attention.”.
These experts ensure that when these people are excited about something, “they can bring impressive enthusiasm.” And although this energy sometimes hinders deceleration or focus, “they are the ones that improve the day and allow spontaneous and fluid conversation,” they add.
Recovering quickly from traumatic experiences
According to psychologists cited by the same source, this phenomenon is especially common among children with ADHD – described as “more resilient”.
Living with this condition can lead to moments of frustration, especially when symptoms hinder the management of daily responsibilities. However, when it comes to “the challenges caused by the world and not by the brain,” these experts ensure that people with PHDA have enough tools to deal with it.
