The European Union has today ensured that it will react “quickly and decisively” if the President of the United States, Donald Trump, decides to implement his new 100% threat of customs tariffs.

O president of the united states today threatened to impose 100% tariffs on european countries to apply a tax on digital services.
“ Unilateral measures against legitimate policies are unjustified”, denounced a spokesman for the European Commission.
Donald Trump threatened to impose 100% tariffs on European countries to implement a digital service tax despite the trade agreement with the European Union which provides for a tariff limit.
“ Many European countries are debating the imminent creation of a tax on digital services for US companies. ... Any country that imposes such a fee will have as immediate response a 100% tariff on all goods shipped to the United States. This tariff will cancel the trade agreements made with the country,” the American president wrote on his Truth Social network.
This new gesture of pressure appears the day after the formal green light given by the countries of the European Union to a trade agreement negotiated last year with the United States.
This agreement provides for a 15% limit on the fees charged on European imports.
But that is not enough for Donald Trump, who wants to attack the so-called “non-tariff” barriers, i.e. European regulations, particularly in technology and the environment, which he believes make American exports difficult.
Recently, he threatened to impose a 100% tariff on French wine if Paris did not eliminate the digital service tax imposed on technology companies.
