End of line for Land Rover Discovery Sport. The production of the British luxury compact SUV will end at the end of the year after more than a decade on the market.

Introduced in 2014, the model will say goodbye, as reported by a spokesman for Jaguar Land Rover quoted in the British publication Autocar: “Discovery Sport production will end in December 2026, in line with the normal life cycles of the product”.

Until then, there will be a “gradual discontinuation” in some markets. This happens at a time when new safety standards for vehicles in the European Union come into force, which would require investment in Discovery Sport – an old model.

It should be noted that Discovery Sport has sold more than 120,000 units a year globally. He joined the second generation in 2019 with a new platform. However, success was far from the same, having one of the worst performances in the brand range.

The question remains whether there will be any successors in the range. Currently, it is marketed as a hybrid, which can take five or seven people according to the variant. The hybrid plugin has 100 percent maximum electric autonomy of up to 58 km (45 real km) and loading in half an hour from 0 to 80 percent. It only takes five people and promises the possibility of making most of the daily trips in electric mode. In terms of consumption, 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres are announced.

The hybrid system is 48 volts, the combustion engine being a tricylindrical turbolength 1.5 liters. The maximum power reaches 269 hp, being a full drive car with automatic box.

Then there's a mild-hybrid variant the diesel 2.0 liters with four cylinders that deports up to 163 hp of power to five or seven people, proposing combined consumption of 6.5 to 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers. The gearbox is automatic.
