Since 2013, a new “Killzone” has not been released but, as it turns out, producer Guerilla Games plans to launch a remastering or remake of the first game released for PlayStation 2 in 2004.

Adespite the fact that in recent years you have devoted yourself almost exclusively to the franchise “Horizon”, it seems that Guerilla Games is ready to revisit the one that is one of the most iconic PlayStation series.
According to mP1st website, Guerilla Games is working on a remastering or remake of the first “Killzone”, released in 2004.
The first "Killzone" was released for PlayStation 2 and in practice was the game responsible for the success that would follow for Guerilla Games. However, "Killzone" was entitled to PSP portable games for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 – where it became one of the release titles.
It turns out that the last “Killzone” was released in 2013 and since then, Guerilla Games has only released games from the “Horizon” series. The first was "Horizon Zero Dawn" in 2017 for PlayStation 4, with the sequel "Horizon Forbidden West" already released in 2022 for PlayStation 5. However, “Horizon” has already been entitled to a game for virtual reality and also to a Lego version of the first title.
With regard to this new “Killzone”, rumors indicate that Guerilla Games is working in collaboration with an external studio. It is known that a part of the production team is dedicated to the online game “Horizon Hunters Gathering” and another part is focused on the continuation of “Horizon Forbidden West”.
It is believed that as soon as the development of “Horizon Hunters Gathering” is completed, a large part of the team’s elements will have to migrate to the development of “Killzone” and the other part to the new “Horizon”.
It will be a matter of waiting for more rumors, leaks or even confirmations from PlayStation or Guerilla Games itself to be sure. However, it can be said that hope is the last to die for fans of “Killzone”.
