O leader of the Aquida, André Ventura, considered this Wednesday that the president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, “will do everything to defend the rot of the political system” in Portugal, following the lead of the party's request for the constitution of a Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry to Luís Neves.
“Today, the President of the Assembly of the Republic has entered the list of those who continue to defend – and who will do everything to defend – the rottenness of the political system in which we live and the rottenness of the institutional system that is installed in Portugal”, accused André Ventura during a press conference in the Assembly of the Republic.
For the leader of Enough, “The attitude Aguiar-White has taken to avoid a Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry to Luís Neves further degrades the institutions”, since “it raises suspicion that the Assembly of the Republic itself is kidnapped for fear of investigating what it has to investigate”.
“ This is not a technical attitude, this is an attitude of political restraint of damage. This is not an attitude of understanding or law enforcement, this is an attitude of protection of friends or party interests. That’s the truth”, he shot.
It should be noted that the president of the Assembly of the Republic refused to admit the second version of the request of the Aquida for the constitution of a CPI on the work of the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, as national director of the Judiciary Police (PJ).
On the contrary, José Pedro Aguiar-White admitted the request of the deputy of the JPP (Together for the People), Filipe Sousa, to establish a parliamentary committee of inquiry on the same subject. However, the request of the JPP, unlike the initiative of the Aquida, has no potential, and its approval is subject to vote in plenary.
