O Palmeiras took, this Sunday, a step towards ensuring the clearance for the final of the Cup of Brazil, by taking the best on Vasco da Gama, by 1-0, at the meeting of the first hand of the ‘middles’, disputed at Nubank Park, in São Paulo, which was marked by a controversial exhibition by the arbitration team led by Anderson Daronco.
Maurício scored, at 24 minutes, the goal that made the difference, in São Paulo, after assistance from Marlon Freitas. However, the ‘caldo’ would end up spilling, already in the second half, with the expulsion of Alan Saldivia, by accumulation of yellow cards, and with a dubious bid, in which visitors were complaining a great penalty.
After a long ball, Alan Lescano tried to control the ball in the large area of the Green, having Alexander Barboza jumped in front of him and turned it away with his hand, even if he was turned on his back. There were moments of intense discussion, but after consulting the VAR, the truth is that the 45-year-old judge eventually chose to point out nothing.
After the final whistle, the president of the Hill Giant, Pedrinho, was ‘caught’ by the cameras of the television broadcast to discuss, for long minutes, with Anderson Daronco, who also presented his interpretation of the bid. Despite the tension, they both said goodbye with a handshake... But the case didn't stop here.
“Mr. Daronco’s shameful pressure”
Admar Lopes, Sports Director of Vasco da Gama, made a point of addressing the press room, where he gave voice to indignation towards the performance of the referee: “I come here to comment on Mr. Daronco’s shameful provision. From the beginning of the game, he showed what was coming. There was a [Facundo] thing very dangerous Colidio, a goal opportunity, and he does not give the yellow card”.
“The first yellow of Saldivia is in a bid without any danger. A duality of glaring criteria. He showed, in the driving of the game, to what he came. In a mid-final decision of the Brazilian Cup, we have to appeal to CBF [Brazilian Football Confederation] to be very careful with the nominations ", shot, in statements reproduced by the portal canarinho Globesport.
“ The lords of the VAR of Santa Catarina came to spend the weekend in São Paulo. They didn't do their job. There were two major bids that would give the second yellow and the barboza penalti thing. I admit that Mr Daronco did not have the best vision, but the VAR did not have any intervention. We have to reflect what the VAR is doing in Brazilian football ", added.
Portuguese coach Pedro Emanuel, for his part, was much more weighted: “You know what I call that? Inexperience. We're not used to dealing with these kinds of moments. It's youth. They're 23 or 24-year-old players who've been through this a few times. Players are experiencing situations of pressure and tension.”.
“ Has anyone spoken or are they waiting to use Abel as Christ?”
On the other side of the ‘barricade’, Luso Abel Ferreira refused to admit that they said Palmeiras was benefited by arbitration: “I have nothing to say about it. I understand the question. You could ask me about Lucas [Evangelist], who took one arm in his face. I'll leave you the creation of content, which you need clicks. They are good things for you to make content”.
“ No coach in the history of Brazilian football ever took games like I took for complaining. The confusion I've come to, unfortunately, after six or seven years, with the experience I have... You should've learned faster. It's a knife point. When football stops being political, I believe things can get better. I only hurt myself in defending Palmeiras ", reflected.
“I have nothing against them [the referees], because I don’t even know them. My competitive spirit and sometimes the injustice that I'm seeing cause me to behave that doesn't fit my place. There was a case where I took a [punishment] game, and they asked to review the process. You mean you didn't study? And it went from one to three. I had never taken six or seven, never in Brazilian football. Has anyone spoken or are they waiting to use Abel as Christ?", concluded.
