A company, which has an installed capacity of 12 million vehicles, reported, after a meeting of its surveillance board with the management, which will also reduce the offer of its automotive models gradually by 50%, focusing on the most attractive market segments.

Their offer of models will decrease by up to 75%, added the group, to which belong brands such as VW, Audi, Porsche, Skoda and Seat/Cupra.

These measures, the group considers, “will improve Volkswagen’s resilient position in a demanding transformation period of the automobile industry” and contribute to maintaining Germany as an industrial location.

“The company faces the next phase of transformation with a plan that positions the group to be more resilient, efficient and competitive,” the statement added, in which no further employment measures were announced.

Before, the group had announced the reduction of 50,000 jobs in Germany by 2030, of which 35,000 in the VW brand.

But now Manager Magazin magazine has advanced that the group wants to step up its savings plans, which could lead to the elimination of 100,000 jobs worldwide, twice as much as has been announced so far.

The magazine also specified that four factories of the group in Germany could close.
