O riyadh International Airport today reopened two of the five terminals, after an attack by Yemen’s Houthis rebels, who consider the infrastructure “a military target”, to have caused 13 deaths two weeks ago.

The official account of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh informs that, as of today, Terminal 1 has been intended for domestic flights, while Terminal 2 will be reserved for international flights, with exclusive use by Saudi airlines, without specifying the state of the remaining installations damaged by the actions of Houthis.

On the other hand, as of today, Riyadh Air flights — Saudi Arabia’s second flag airline after Saudia — will depart from Al Qassim airport instead of Riyadh Air, located in Al Qassim province, in the center of the kingdom, detail the company in its ‘site’.

Despite this reopening, international airlines continue with the suspended links to and from Saudi Arabia.

For his part, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, Yahya Sahara, reiterated his warning to “all global, regional and local airlines, as well as to their employees and passengers, about the danger of transiting” through the capital airport, as it is “unsafe and constitutes a military target”.

Sara threatened Saudi Arabia — which has led the military coalition since it intervened in the war in Yemen in 2015 against the Houthis and in favor of the internationally recognized Yemeni Government — by saying that “it will bear the consequences of any operation at the airport and its repercussions”, adding that “it will never be a safe place.”.

Meanwhile, the coalition spokesperson, Turki al Maliki, assured that two drones and a ballistic missile launched by the insurgents against Riyadh province have been intercepted and destroyed today.

Sara thus reiterated its threats against the country of the Persian Gulf in the event that the alliance continued its air campaign in the areas under the control of the insurgents in Yemen, where the Houthis led, in parallel, an offensive to snatch the southwest coast from the forces loyal to the Yemeni Government.

Since The summer that an offensive has been taking place by both parties, which intensified in early September, after the Yemeni army — an organization sponsored by Saudi Arabia — claimed last July an attack on the Sanaa International Airport — under hothi control — due to the landing of an Iranian plane.
