O FC Porto suffered another loss in the Champions League this Tuesday. This time, in front of the Dutch of the PSV (0-1), in play of the 3rd journey of the single league phase. Farioli's dragons have again experienced difficulties in dealing with an opponent who pressed high and continue without adding any point to the million-dollar test.
The game movie
FC Porto entered with an early appointment and even had opportunities to do so in the first 10 minutes. The first great occasion was wasted by Oskar Pietuszewski who, after an incomplete defense of the PSV guardian, ended up not directing the ball in the best way.
The PSV reacted, pushed FC Porto through high pressure and also did not waste any time threatening Diogo Costa. At 16 minutes, Mauro Junior fired in danger, but the ball left next to the FC Porto goal.
From here, the game became more balanced, with a lot of fighting in the middle. The minutes passed and the two teams tried to take advantage of the opposing weaknesses, but without great success. Still, the PSV seemed to be slightly stronger in the pressure, causing the Porto FC to fall back in the field.
The danger of FC Porto appeared almost always down the left corridor, by Pietuszewski's feet. At 36 minutes, the Polish extreme regained space on the flank, but continued to reveal lack of aim, shooting over the Dutch goal.
After six minutes, great scare at Dragon Stadium, Alberto Costa measured the late pass to Diogo Costa and left Kostic in the face of the goal. The Serbian international got very close to breaking the null, but the shot hit the pole and left.
The interval arrived and the null one prevailed, with some naturality, on the marker.
FC Porto went hungry again in the second part and at 48 minutes it was right on the edge of the advantage. Pablo Rosario risked the shot out of the big area and the ball almost kissed the bar.
However, and as it had happened in the first half, the PSV domain emerged again and at 57 minutes there was a new scare at FC Porto's goal, with the post saving Diogo Costa again.
The third was really for good and Guus Til opened the scorer's accounts soon after, placing the PSV to win in the Dragon after the insistence move of the Dutch formation.
Farioli didn't waste any time and operated on a triple scrambled soon after: Borja Sainz, André Silva and In-Beom were in the game, winning Samu, Pietuszewski and Gabri Veiga.
Farioli's changes brought some spark to FC Porto, but without great offensive fruits. At 69 minutes it was Zaidu's turn to leave to give the place to João Souza, who officially debuted for the blues and whites.
At 72 minutes, FC Porto had a great opportunity to reach the draw, but neither André Silva nor Froholdt had sharp aim to seize the golden occasion. In-Beom left the Portuguese in the face of the goal, but shot Kovar's figure and Froholdt's recharge was already getting ready to celebrate, but saw Geertruida give the 'pet to the bullets'.
Soon after, another flagrant opportunity, with Alberto Costa getting the ball over Kovac, but Dest managed to cover the goalkeeper's failure and avoid the porter goal.
Despite the physical breakdown, the PSV managed to grasp the minimum advantage and leave the Dragon with the first victory of the season in Champions, imposing at the same time the third disengagement followed by FC Porto.
The dragons remain at the bottom of the general ranking, with no point in three games, such as Slovan Bratislava, and again enter the Champions League on November 4, with a reception to Napoli.
Game time: The failures of André Silva and Froholdt ended up having great soul weight in FC Porto players. If you had, Francesco Farioli's team could even dream of completing the reassembled..
