“ Por please respect the professionals. We are not here to be a political player”, said Álvaro Covões, from Everything is New, promoter who organizes the NOS Alive festival at the 18th edition balance press conference, which ends today at the Algés Maritime Walk in Oeiras.
The Prime Minister, Louis Montenegro, was at the festival on Thursday. The visit to the enclosure, “while an entire county [Almada] and an affected district [Setúbal] are without water to fight to have the minimum supply”, was criticized on Friday by the leader of the Arrival, André Ventura.
The promoter said today that Luís Montenegro “was lost an hour of his time and left”.
“And it was criticized. I am very sad to see politicians talking about culture to do politics”, he lamented.
The promoter recalled that he invited Luís Montenegro to visit the festival as he did before, for example, with António Costa, who visited the festival in 2023 when he was a government leader, or with Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, as President of the Republic.
“Culture needs to be more widespread, we need to encourage cultural habits,” he said, recalling that “the economic sector of culture has been the most affected in the pandemic and has still not been able to recover,” he warned.
