Five Brazilian robotics teams will compete together as a national football team with fully autonomous humanoid robots from the 2026 World Robot Games, which take place this month in Beijing, announced this week the organizers.

A team, named Team Brazil, will participate in the second edition of RoboCup Asia-Pacific Beijing Masters (RCAP Beijing Masters), one of the main competitions of the event, which will take place between August 22 and 26 at the National Speed Skating Ring.
According to Chinese official news agency Xinhua, this is the first time that the competition has received a national team formed by the union of several RoboCup teams.
The Brazilian team consists of the RoboFEI, Bahia Robotics Team, RobotocIn, Warthog Robotics and Talos Humanoid Robots formations.
The organizers stated that the initiative aims to demonstrate the technical capacity, the spirit of cooperation and the innovation of Brazilian programmers in the field of football with fully autonomous humanoid robots.
The competition will bring together RoboCup teams from various countries and will serve to demonstrate the latest advances in areas such as embedded artificial intelligence, humanoid robot movement control, computer vision, environmental perception, autonomous decision-making and cooperation between multiple robots.
According to Xinhua, the creation of the Brazilian team results from the experience accumulated by the various teams during their participation in RoboCup, in particular in the 2025 edition of RCAP Beijing Masters.
In the first edition of the World Games for Humanoid Robots, held last year, RoboFEI reached fifth place in the fully autonomous humanoid robot football competition in the three-on-three sport.
The inaugural tournament had 280 teams from 16 countries competing in 26 modalities. China dominated the football finals of humanoid robots with the University of Tsinghua winning category five against five and the Agricultural University of China winning the title of three against three, both defeating German teams.
The president of the International Council of RoboCup Asia-Pacific and Vice President of the International Federation of RoboCup, Zhou Changjiu, said that the creation of the Brazilian team demonstrates the growing international influence of competition and the spirit of cooperation between teams.
“ We hope Team Brazil will demonstrate in Beijing the innovative potential of the ‘football country’ in the areas of artificial intelligence and humanoid robots,” said Zhou, quoted by Xinhua, also expressing the desire that more countries form national selections for future editions of the competition.
