Conforme we told you this Thursday (16 July), from tomorrow (18 July) the Museum of Caramulo receives a vast exhibition dedicated to the history of Formula 1, entitled “Magic Formula”. And one of the promises is the presence of a world champion behind the wheel of a single-place ramp in october.

“ It is the biggest exhibition that the Museum of Caramulo ever set up, dedicated to the passion of Formula 1 [F1]. It is called “Magic Formula”, because it moves the hearts exactly, when we speak of Formula 1′′, considered Salvador Patricio Gouveia.

The exhibition opens to the public this Saturday, starting at 10:00, and can be visited until October 18, at the Museum of Caramulo, in Tondela, Viseu district – opened in 1959 - whose space dedicated to cars has now been adapted.

“ It was all sealed in sunlight, with everything painted in black, to allow an immersive experience” to the visitor, who can also view the cars with background images of some pilots, advanced the director of the Museum.

“ These are museum pieces, collectors' pieces, Lotus himself. We palmilhomos the whole world with a great logistics, big insurance, a lot of investment, to ensure this unique team of models”, he stressed.

The Show “Ten portray at least five decades of F1 and pilots, and other formulas, but, above all, with cars of the golden age” of this category automotive sport summit.

“A totally unique set in Portugal”

Still in statements to the agency Lusa, the director of the Museum of Caramulo stressed that this show includes about 30 cars, in a “absolutely unique set in Portugal” of public access.

Salvador Gouveia highlighted “the Lotus 97T, with which the Brazilian pilot Ayrton Senna (1960-1994) won his first Formula One win at the 1985'" Grand Prix in Portugal at the Estoril Autódromo, Cascais, Lisbon district.

“ It is a very significant car not only in the history of F1, but also in Portugal”, said Salvador Patricio Gouveia.

The other protagonists

They are also part of the Nelson Piquet Lotus 100T show; Nigel Mansell's Williams FW14; Ayrton Senna's Williams FW16; Jean Alesi's Benetton B196 and Jean Alesi's Jordan 199; Heinz-Harald Frentzen's Sauber C18 and Michael Schumacher's Ferrari F2005.

The exhibition includes “cars that were already in Portugal, but no one had ever seen them, because they are in private collections” and therefore “it is like an official presentation to the public, because they have never been seen”.

“ We also have a very large set of original artifacts, such as suits, helmets, glasses, gloves and many pieces that came from outside Portugal ", detailed.

Portugal in Formula 1

The show integrates “the history of F1 in Portugal, and Portugal in F1“, this car sport that began in 1950 and that had the participation and prominence of portuguese pilots, he added.

“Nicha Cabral, the first driver of F1 in Portugal, in the years [19]60 and also Pedro Matos Chaves, Pedro Lamy and Tiago Monteiro, who are represented here with cars and other pieces alluding to their careers,” he stressed.

Among the cars of Portuguese pilots, indicated the Lotus 107B of Pedro Lamy and Jordan EJ15 with which Tiago Monteiro reached third place in the United States Grand Prix in 2005.

For the sake of logistics, the automobiles are not all concentrated in the Caramulo Museum, with a good part in the Caramulo Experience Center, about a mile away, and it is visitable with the same access ticket to the exhibition at the Museum.

More than the exhibition, there will be even a F1 pilot present

In this space, besides being exposed to most cars of F1, “some, few, from the collection of the Museum of Caramulo”, it will also be possible to “live experiences” in interactive spaces.

“ We'll have simulators, interactive kiosks with challenges for people to respond. In the background, it is a test to see if they could be pilots of F1 and another [investigation] to the culture of F1 ", indicated.

In October he anticipated Salvador Patricio Gouveia, “will be on the street an F1 car with the pilot, a world champion who will climb the ramp” of Caramulo in this car.
