Sand as far as the sheets are concerned, the rule is that they are washed at least once a week, the same does not apply to the duvet cover.
Excessive or inadequate washing may decrease its durability. In view of this, cleaning professionals have revealed how to do so.
How often do you wash your duvet cover?
Scott Schrader, a cleaning expert at CottageCare, recommends washing his cover every two weeks, depending on the season of the year.
In summer, it suggests that cleaning is done weekly, as you sleep with fewer layers of clothing. In the coldest months, the house is usually enough for two weeks, unless you sweat too much.
How to wash the duvet cover: step by step
First of all, it is important to remove the cover from the duvet as it becomes easier to handle.
What you're gonna need:
– Soft detergent;
– Washing machine;
– Knitted or crocheted bags;
– Remove from stains.
Instructions:
1. Before you start, read the washing recommendations for your duvet cover. Care may vary considerably depending on the type of tissue.
2. Identify the stains and soak them with a remover;
3. If the cover has buttons or clasps, close them in such a way that they do not roll;
4. Put the duvet cover inside a large mesh bag to protect it from damage. If you have pillowcases, wash them at the same time. If you do not have a knitted bag, place the cover and pillowcases alone in a washing cycle for more delicate fabrics;
5. Choose a soft detergent without aggressive chemicals. Prefer one with neutral pH to protect the integrity of the most delicate tissues;
6. After the end of the washing cycle, shake the cover well to avoid creases and put it dry, well stretched (be careful not to bother the neighbors in the stretch).
