Confusion set. Arabia takes goal (or not) from Cristiano Ronaldo to FIFA

Saudi Arabia's Football Federation met to discuss whether Al Nassr's second goal, in the victory over Al-Faisaly, should or should not be awarded to Cristiano Ronaldo, but did not reach any conclusion, so it will ask FIFA for an opinion.

O The Technical Arbitration Committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAF) met this Sunday for the sole purpose of discussing the so-called Al Nassr goal at the 11th National Championship Day meeting at the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Sport City Stadium, which culminated in a 1-3 victory over Al-Faisaly.

The news is advanced by the portal Al-Midan, which cites sources well placed in the process, to reveal that, in this meeting, they were analyzed to detail, not only the images of the bid, but also the audio of the communications carried out between the main arbitrator, Abdullah Al-Owaidan, and the elements of the VAR, to understand exactly what happened.

However, after deep reflection, the body was not able to reach any kind of final decision, so the option went by asking FIFA for a formal opinion, while looking for other means of demarcating certain who should assign the bid that at the time increased the advantage of Saudi champions in title to 0-2.

The bid in question took place at the 49 minute pass, when the team guided by the Australian coach Ange Postecoglou already won, for 0-1. In charging for a free kick, the Portuguese international João Félix ‘bombed’ the ball for the ‘heart’ of the large area, where the ball touched... on someone, before finding the way to the goal guard Fernando Pacheco.

The images are not at all enlightening, but the truth is that Cristiano Ronaldo soon complained about the attempt, rehearsing the already traditional feast, before heading back to the midfield itself, trying to confirm, sometimes with referee Abdullah Al-Owaidan, or with the bench of alternates, that it would have been the very one to expand the count.

Golo is (for the moment) Cristiano Ronaldo

The Saudi Arabia national championship officially assigned the attempt to the former Sporting player... unlike Opta, a platform specialized in the processing of sports data that ‘feeds’ some of the most used tools on the planet, such as FlashScore or SofaScore.

In these, the bid arises as having been a self-governing of the Brazilian Andrei Girotto, who diverted the ball and 'traced' the goalkeeper himself. A further controversy is thus in place at a time when Madeira is closer than ever to becoming the first player in world football history to reach the 1,000 goals barrier.

At this time, the 41-year-old advanced has 981... or 982 straight shots throughout his career, depending on the source consulted, so it is to be expected that, soon, an official clarification will emerge that can make clear if he is missing 18 or 19 to arrive at the feat that there is so much demand.

The situation at Al Nassr

After the accounts, with this result, Al Nassr added 25 points earned after ten days, a record that leaves him in the second position of the Saudi Arabian championship, in equality with Al-Qadisiyah (who has another game held) and two away from the leader, Al Hilal.

The team of Cristiano Ronaldo is also part of the fight for the Saudi Arabia Super Cup (will face the Al-Kholood, in the final half), the King's Cup (will measure forces precisely with the same opponent, in the 'eight') and the Asian Champions League (takes the seventh place of the West Group, with the same three points of Neftchi).
