David Lewis, a cognitive neuropsychologist and one of the researchers in this study, explained that this phenomenon “occurs from the fact that reading is more than a distraction since, in fact, offers the possibility of involving the reader in the imagination of the author and entering an altered state of consciousness that relaxes the brain”.
