A hide My Email feature developed by Apple was created to protect the privacy of users, allowing them to hide their true email address. However, it seems that this feature contains an error that allowed you to see the true email address.
According to , EasyOptOuts investigator and co-founder Tyler Murphy discovered this vulnerability but, even after he warned Apple, this error remains present on Apple systems.
The company will have contacted Murphy stating that it had fixed the problem through a software update but after some attempts, it seems that the situation remains the same. A year later, it seems that the vulnerability has not yet been corrected by Apple.
“We do not know the scale of this issue, but in our tests with volunteers, 100% of Hide My Email addresses were still available”Murphy stated to the publication.
The same investigator explained that some current websites allow you to link emails to people via personal data relatively easily, so “People who use Hide My Email to be safer may be at risk”.
