Concerts, entertainment and gastronomy are part of the 17-day program of the Coimbra Popular Fair, which this year starts to integrate the festivals of the city and where 300 thousand people are estimated to pass, today revealed the organization.

“ ANDthis year we count to exceed 300,000 people ", said the president of the Union of Freguesias of Santa Clara and Castelo Viegas, Bertília Simão, during the presentation of the event.
The Feira Popular de Coimbra will take place between the 3rd and 19th of July, in Praça da Canção (Choupalinho), represented an investment in the order of 300,000 euros.
According to the president of the Union of Freguesias de Santa Clara and Castelo Viegas, this is an investment “very significant for a parish”, which has some sponsorships and institutional support.
“ This year I can say that we will have the greatest support ever [about 100,000 euros] of the Municipality of Coimbra”, he said.
To those present, the mayor also showed that this 17-day initiative goes far beyond the entertainment component.
“ This event isn't just a party. It was never just a stage, it was never just carousels or coming for plenty. It's all that and more: it's a meeting place, a community project“, he said.
Among the news for this year, there is the disclosure, on the screens of the Fair Popular of Coimbra, Expofacic, the Fair Agricultural, Commercial and Industrial of the neighboring municipality of Cantanhede.
“We want to promote what's good around us because it makes us stronger. When a county grows, the whole region benefits and this is the message of the Popular Fair, which is worth building bridges“ he sustained.
The mayor of Coimbra, Ana Abrunhosa, reinforced the strategic importance of the event for the city, which says it is an integral part of the Festivals of Coimbra.
“ We stop separating what is the Popular Fair and the Festivals of Coimbra. This is the Fair Popular of the Festivals of Coimbra ", indicated.
Ana Abrunhosa highlighted that the Feira Popular plays an important role as a community meeting space, which is not limited to concerts or carousels.
“ During the summer nights, this space takes on different dimensions and becomes the true meeting point of the community ", supported, also showing that the event attracts thousands of visitors from outside the county, contributing to the dynamics of the local economy, commerce, restoration and tourist activity.
On the program, the organization also stressed that it was made for all audiences and tastes, proposing concerts, animation, gastronomy, entertainment and the participation of local and national artists.
Through the stage of the Feira Popular de Coimbra will pass the band Nemanus (July 03), Mickael Career (10 July), Extensive Soul (11 July), Fifth of Bill (17 July) and Karetus (18 July)), among others.
The tickets are all free.
