Dbecause of many rumors and signs pointing to the strong possibility onePlus is leaving Europe and North America, the brand has announced that it will no longer launch mobile phones in these two markets.
The Chinese company officially confirmed this decision, noting that (for now) it will remain in India, beyond (obviously) China. In the absence of OnePlus, Oppo (also owned by BBK Electronics) expects to take the position of the brand.
“ After careful evaluation, OnePlus will not launch new products in Europe and North America.”, read in the communiqué officially shared with the techCrunch site, also ensuring that those who recently purchased a OnePlus mobile phone in these markets will still be able to rely on updates and customer support.
“ The interests and rights of all users, including after-sales support and software updates remain assured”, advance OnePlus.
In an officially shared message on the US community site, OnePlus takes the opportunity to thank all those who have supported the brand since it was founded at the end of 2013.
“ To all who shared, commented, reported bugs, shared photos, answered questions or simply spent time here with us: thank you”, can be read in publication. “ Thank you for helping build one of the most passionate technology communities we could ask for. It has been a privilege to have you as part of this journey.”.
However, it is important to mention that the current OnePlus devices in Europe and North America – which are still eligible for further updates – will move from OxygenOS to the ColorOS (Oppo) version which is equivalent to the Android 17 version of Google's operating system.
It is important to remember that Bloomberg he recently shared a report pointing to OnePlus’s intention not to have a guaranteed future in India, indicating that the brand intended to carry out a gradual exit from this market and, eventually, be present only in China.
However, it is believed that OnePlus will not close operations in India until 2027.
