O co-founder and CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, believes that there is a “crisis of trust” of the general public with companies developing Artificial Intelligence, noting that (so far) the great promises that benefit the world have not been fulfilled.
Amodei's statements were made in response to Gavin Baker's investment that, in conversation in the podcast “All-In” and in publications on social network X, stated that he believes that statements about regulation helped feed the resistance of the general public in relation to Artificial Intelligence and the construction of data centers in the US.
Amodei made some of these statements in the past, in Baker’s opinion, the leader of Anthropic is partly guilty of this resistance and even if he made statements to warnings of “good faith.”.
“Dario [Amodei]’s message has been extremely useful for efforts to ban data centers here in the US”, wrote Baker on the X. “I suspect we’ll be seeing groups against data centers sharing ads with Dario [Ammodei] segments warning about how dangerous artificial intelligence can be for humans. His good faith efforts in defense of regulation are now increasing the likelihood that Artificial Intelligence will not be beneficial to Americans and humans everywhere.”.
Baker also argued that Amodei, as CEO of what might become one of the “most important public companies in the world”, could make “an effort to be more positive in relation to his own industry.”.
