“ A LiveModeTV will broadcast the FIFA 2027 Women's World Cup in Portugal, reinforcing the commitment to make football of excellence open and to consolidate a new way of seeing sport in the country. One game per day is guaranteed, with a total of 25 matches in the competition”, reads in the statement released today.

The brand debuted in Portugal with the transmission of 34 games of the 2026 World Cup, including all meetings of the National Team, semi-finals and finals, in sign, through YouTube and Prime Video.

“ With the acquisition of the rights of the FIFA 2027 Women's World Cup, LiveModeTV continues this strategy, reinforcing the bet on open-speak football and valuing a competition that has been gaining ever more relevance and global audience ", stresses the company in the note.

João Mesquita, General Manager of LiveModeTV, quoted in the statement, states: “Throughout these weeks of the Men’s World Cup, we have broken record audiences in Portugal and counted over 3,6M unique devices to watch our emissions. We realize that the public feels like they're actually watching a football game with friends. That's how we want it to go on. Therefore, we are very pleased to announce that already in 2027, we will also broadcast the Women’s World Cup, reinforcing our commitment to making football closer and closer to those who like the sport.”.

LiveModeTV also ensures that it will continue to offer an experience that combines live sports, creators, entertainment and interaction, “approaching competition fans through a native digital language and providing a more engaging experience.”.

And invites its viewers to “follow all broadcasts through YouTube and Prime Video”.

The LiveModeTV platform, which broadcasts football games from the World Cup2026 in Portugal, asked at the end of June for registration in the Regulating Entity for Social Communication (ERC) as an audiovisual service on request (streaming), as required, despite continuing to oppose the rating awarded by the regulator.

“ Having not had the opportunity to comment on this new framework, LiveModeTV invoked the right of prior hearing to present its arguments, as follows from the Administrative Procedure Code”, the platform said.

“LiveModeTV will now present the detailed documentation to ERC on the current model of your project, demonstrating that your activity does not fall within the audiovisual service category on request. The company makes it confident that, as with the classification as a web television service, the analysis of these elements will lead ERC to conclude that LiveModeTV does not fit in that category”, said.

LiveModeTV Portugal is owned by LiveMode Portugal, Unipersonal, Lda.

In Portugal, the project stands out for broadcasting, live, 34 World Games, one per day, including those of the National Team, in free access, starting the activity about 6 months, coincident with the first video available on the YouTube platform.

The ERC suspended on Wednesday the introduction of a counter-ordering procedure to LiveModeTV until the review of the process by the Regulatory Board, after the platform made the registration on Tuesday, Lusa told the official source of the regulator.

Contacted by Lusa, official source of the Regulatory Body for Social Communication (ERC) “clarifies that the counter-ordering procedure is suspended until review of the process by the Regulatory Board”.

According to the same source, LiveModeTV made the registration with ERC on Tuesday [30 June] as an audiovisual service on request.

On Monday, the ERC Regulatory Council decided to initiate proceedings against the LiveMode platform after 72 hours, not having submitted the legally required elements to the entity.
