O The Mozambican National Energy Fund delivered today the management of the Mozambique Solar Panels Factory (FPSM) to the Jampur Arab group, hoping to relaunch production, modernise technology and increase the competitiveness of the unit in the national market.
“Our expectation is that this company (...), due to the experience it presented, can actually enter the market, compete and make a difference in the provision of services,” said the president of the National Energy Fund (Funae), Mety Gondola, during the ceremony held in the Beluluane Industrial Park, Maputo province.
The person responsible said he hoped that the new operator, Jampur Group, a Dubai-based company in the United Arab Emirates, would introduce more advanced technology and strengthen the unit’s competitiveness, stating that the factory faced technological limitations that restricted its ability to compete with more modern equipment already available on the market.
“ The dimension did not allow us to scale. The maximum power of what was produced was in the order of 270 and it did not allow us to be competitive with packages that we have smaller that make about 670 ", explained.
The person responsible added that the transition to private management will allow Funae to focus on its role of promoting access to energy, leaving the industrial operation to entities with greater technical and commercial capacity: “More and more we believe Funae has to work in its essence.”.
The president of Funae also called on the new manager to diversify the supply of products, serving not only institutional and business customers, but also families and small producers.
“ Do not focus solely on large-scale sales to state or business structures. Think also of the units that should serve the population individually, the machambas [fields of cultivation] and other production units ", noted.
For Gondola, the introduction of new technological packages can create space for responses more adapted to the needs of communities, agriculture and small productive projects, contributing to expanding access to solar energy solutions in the country.
