O breakfast is often mentioned as the most important meal of the day. The choices you make at the first meal of the day may have an impact over the next few hours. Cholesterol can increase and everything is related to some common errors.

In an interview with Only My Health, nutritionist Archana Batra made some of the mistakes that many people make for breakfast and that can cause cholesterol values to rise over time.

Cholesterol: Breakfast errors that increase values

“ By choosing healthier ingredients and avoiding common mistakes, you can enjoy a breakfast that benefits both your heart and your health in general”, the expert begins by saying. Know the mistakes to avoid.

1- Ignore Fibers

“ One of the biggest mistakes is not consuming enough fibers. Many popular dishes are poor in fiber and cause people to get hungry earlier and lose important health benefits. Failure to consume foods such as oats, fruits and whole grains reduces the intake of soluble fibers, which help reduce LDL, known as bad cholesterol.”

2- Choose refined carbohydrate

“ Many foods consumed in the morning are made with refined carbohydrates. White bread, sugary morning cereals, sweets and other pastry products may taste attractive, but offer little nutritional value.”

3- Processed meat

“A breakfast may include bacon, sausage or other processed meats. Although they are popular foods, regular consumption is not the best option for heart health.”

4- Use excess butter

“ Although it can be consumed occasionally, the use of large amounts daily can increase the intake of saturated fat.”

5- Eat large portions

“ Excessive portions can contribute to weight gain, even when food itself is nutritious. Overweight is closely linked to higher cholesterol levels and an increased risk of heart disease.”

6- Ignore Protein

“ Some breakfasts mainly contain carbohydrates, but very little protein. For example, eating only toast, cereals, or fruits may not provide enough protein to make you satisfied. A low protein breakfast can lead to later food excesses.”

7- Consumption of sugary drinks

“Coffee drinks, fruit juices, shakes and other sugary drinks add sugar and excess calories, without contributing to heart health. Although fruit juice may seem healthy, it usually contains large amounts of natural sugar and does not have the fibers found in the whole fruit.”
