A england's 2026 World Cup selection may be over, but still in memory the moments when, after the victories, English fans and players sang the iconic Oasis "Wonderwall" song.
The song, released in 1995 and part of the second album by the British band, entitled “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”, became the anthem of the English team and, even if England was eliminated by Argentina, it seems that the fans of the team and the Oasis still cannot forget this song.
It turns out that more than 20 years after it was released, “Wonderwall” has again appeared in the most listened music tables and is now in the top position of the most heard themes in Spotify globally – ahead of Shakira, Ariana Grande or Justin Bieber.
Remember that the Gallagher brothers – Liam and Noel, the main Oasis members – have a known connection to the football world and are both fans of Manchester City. In this way, it is not strange that “Wonderwall” was chosen (involuntaryly) as the anthem of this passage from England by the US World Cup.
The choice seems to have been to the liking of England's selection, notes the g1 website. This is evident in the videos that circulated with the players singing the song accompanying the fans and also in Harry Kane's words in the victory against Croatia during this World Cup.
“ It was one of my favorite moments wearing the English shirt in a big tournament. I know it was just the first game and we can't get carried away, but the emotional connection we had with the fans... We know how much this means to them. We are connected with them but, at that moment, singing the 'Wonderwall' in the stadium.... Everyone knew it was a very special moment”, explained Kane.
