ANDthere are several items that should always be in the kitchen, some not so obvious. One of them, as the Tasting Table highlights, is the white chalk (yes, that of the old school paintings).

According to the website, putting pieces of chalk in the bottom of a drawer helps prevent darkening of the cutlery. Besides, chalk is also ideal for absorbing fat stains.

When you realize your clothes are dirty, just rub a piece of chalk in the stain. The ideal will be to apply it as soon as possible.

Always prefer white chalk, as the color contains substances that worsen the stains. Apply with a slight pressure to undo the chalk and leave a white residue on the fat stain. After covering the area, let it act for a few minutes and wash the clothes normally.

Traditional chalk is made of calcium carbonate, while the most modern chalk is composed of calcium sulfate or plaster. Both are porous and absorbent. Bodybuilders, gymnasts and climbers use various types of chalk powder on their hands to reduce moisture, and the same principle makes it ideal for removing fat stains from clothing.

If the texture of the garment still makes it difficult to apply the chalk, use the tip of the knife or scissors to scrape some chalk over the stain. If the stain on the clothing remains after washing, repeat the process before drying. It is important to note that chalk is only effective in recent fat stains, the more recent, the harder it will be to remove them.

There is also another trick, well known among mothers, effective in removing fat stains. In the still dry garment, apply dish detergent directly to the stain and rub. Then just put the washing on the usual cycle of the machine.
