The solid state batteries they are one of the solutions that several car manufacturers have been exploring hard and strong investment for electric models. A Peugeot he's also betting on this kind of technology.
O RCZ Vision, presented at the Paris Motor Show, is not only a design exercise that imagines a contemporary successor of the former RCZ coupé, but also proposes a solid state battery of high energy efficiency.
The cells were developed in collaboration with Factorial Energy, reports the French manufacturer in a statement. It can be loaded from 10 to 80 percent in ten minutes, being associated with an electrical architecture of 1,000 volts.
In RCZ Vision, this battery would be enough for a autonomy of up to 600 km, despite the 550 hp of the propulsion system – with a view to consumption of 11.5 kWh/100 km.
A technology that many pursue
Solid state batteries have a solid electrolyte instead of liquid, which ensures greater security, stability, durability, faster loads and the possibility of storing more energy in less space – therefore lighter and compacter. This Peugeot is only 110 millimeters thick.
Thus, the technology deserves great attention from manufacturers. Toyota, for example, reported in October last year that it intends to launch electrics with this type of technology between 2027 and 2028.
The Stellantis Group itself, of which Peugeot is part, this year put on the road a Dodge Charger Daytona with a solid state battery – in a joint work with Factorial.
Already in BYD, Vice President Stella Li told Carwow a few weeks ago that he has the first model with technology already in 2027. A Geely, in turn, aims to start the do pilot tests next year, pointing to more than 1,000 km of autonomy, according to the IAA Mobility website.
