According to the information available today, this growth was driven by the evolution of financial markets and the increase in asset value.
Portugal occupies, according to the same source, the 26th place worldwide in terms of average wealth per adult, with 195,761 dollars (about 172 thousand euros), with the average wealth fixed at the 76,978 dollars. The latter indicator is a reflection of a more balanced patrimonial distribution among the population, they say.
When a country is better positioned in terms of average wealth, it means that wealth is less concentrated in a few large fortunes, as can happen in cases like that of the United States, where ultra-richs dramatically raise the average.
At world level, Switzerland ranks first in average wealth per adult, with $910.382, but Luxembourg leads in terms of average wealth at 394.005.
The study indicates that the number of millionaires in dollars increased by 1.5% in 2025, representing about a million new millionaires, over 2,600 a day.
Almost half of these concentrated in the United States of America, with over 440,000 new millionaires.
The US and mainland China gather more than half of all the personal wealth in the world, said the UBS study.
By regions, Europe, the Middle East and Africa experienced the greatest growth in wealth, with an increase of 17.5%, followed by America, with 8.5%, and Asia-Pacific, with 5.9%.
The financial institution explained that the devaluation of the dollar increased the value in dollars of assets denominated in other currencies.
The Swiss banking entity stressed that the growth of world wealth occurs in a context increasingly conditioned by economic and technological developments.
