O PS wants to call the commission of inquiry on the mandates of the Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, in front of the Judiciary Police the Prime Minister, the predecessor, António Costa, the Attorney General of the Republic, Amadeu Guerra, and the former seeker Lucília Gago.
In total, the PS wants to listen to 34 people, most of them connected to the Judicial Police, starting with the current national director, Carlos Cabreiro.
From the current government, the PS wants to call the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, the Minister of Internal Administration and former director of the PJ, who is at the center of the inquiry, and the Minister of Justice, Rita Alarcão Júdice.
In the request, to which Lusa had access, the socialists also request the hearing of the current President of the European Council and former Prime Minister and former leader of the PS, António Costa, as well as his chief cabinet Francisco André and Vítor Scuária.
The former justice ministers Francisca Van Dunem and Catarina Sarmento and Castro complete the list of rulers.
The PS also wants to hear the Attorney General of the Republic, the former Ombudsman Lucília Gago, the former Secretary General of the Internal Security System Vizeu Pinheiro, the former Secretary General of the Information System of the Portuguese Republic Maria da Graça Mira Gomes, the former Director of the Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action, Albano Pinto, and the former Director of the Research and Criminal Action Department of Lisbon Fernanda Pego.
The contractor of Construbarcelos João dos Santos Carvalho, the deputy national director of PJ Artur Vaz, the former deputy national directors of PJ Luísa Proença, Carlos Farinha, João Eugênio Serpa Botelho de Melo and Veríssimo Milhazes are other of the names listed by the PS.
The parliamentary committee of inquiry for “evaluation of the intervention of Luís Neves as director of the PJ during all his mandates (2018-2026) and possible responsibility of members of the Government who appointed and protected him” took office last week.
The next meetings are scheduled for Monday (table and coordinators) and for Tuesday (ordinary meeting), two hours before the start of the general discussion of the State Budget for 2027. The leader of the Aquista, André Ventura, presides over this inquiry.
The investigation was forced by Aquisa following the polemics that came to the public in recent months involving Luís Neves, related to works on the property of the now minister made by a company that concluded contracts with PJ, or the tied with chemicals seized in an operation that was stored in the premises of that company.
