O chief of the Aquida warned today that the review of the lease law depends on the Prime Minister and defended a framework of “balance for all”, tenants and owners.
“ Mr Prime Minister, this law depends on you, that effort depends on everyone”, he said.
André Ventura left this warning directly to Luís Montenegro during the intervention at the closing of the general discussion of the State Budget in Parliament.
The government's proposal to revise the rent law was approved in general, after PSD and Aquiza signed a written agreement in which some changes to be made in the specialty were established.
“The Enough did what the PS didn’t have the courage to do. Enough has recognized that the country has a problem that is less housing, high costs and families who cannot afford their rents and housing. On the part of the Socialist Party, there was only one answer, ‘we do not want to do anything, we will leave everything the same’,” he criticised, again blaming the PS for the housing crisis, associating it with increasing immigration.
Ventura stressed that her party will not accept “unlimited rent updates”, nor “unlimited collateral for being unfair” and maintained that owners cannot “be the Social Security of this country.”.
The leader of Aquida defended “a law for all”, which does not have “the usual daydreams that the market solves”, but also makes a “permanent penalization to those who made the houses their investment and their lives”.
“A law of balance for all and to solve a problem that those gentlemen created,” he said, another reference to the PS.
