Sand you're reading this sitting in a curved posture, we have bad news: The brain can get him to make bad decisions over the next few hours.

According to brain specialists, the best attitude to adopt is the power pose – and not just to show confidence in job interviews. Discover the benefits below.

What does science say about power pose?

Published on July 2, this year in the British Journal of Psychology, the study “Manipulating posture implicitly through restrictions can influence mood and risk behaviors”, conducted by McGill University, suggests that adopting certain positions can be a “physical strategy to promote general well-being” and not just that of muscle or bone health.

“ The results suggest that, in addition to deliberate power pose, factors that affect posture in the real world (e.g. standing tables or ergonomic configurations) can have impacts on the behavior of individuals ", describes the study summary.

How did you come to this conclusion?

The investigation put it to the test 200 participants through decision making in a virtual game. And the results were evident: The group that took the most risks received higher rewards.

And note that risk not always means acting more impulsively or recklessly, but rather “that they were the take the risks more effectively”, describes Jorge Armony, one of the authors of the study and professor in the departments of psychiatry and psychology of McGill in a statement published by this institution.

According to researchers, what can influence decision-making can be based on “change in neck flexion associated with sternocleidomastoid muscle activity”, causing effects even on the mood of individuals.

McGill University reinforces how “something as simple as the way you’re sitting may be silently mold your mood and how you make decisions.”

What position should you then adopt?

Demonstrating confidence through non-verbal language should not be restricted to standing positions, even because sitting is not always synonymous with resting. In fact, office work is precisely linked to sitting work and, whether for economic decisions or for the communication of a company, it is important that you do so with confidence.

To this end, these experts explain that the principle is very simple and probably even heard the same from their family doctor or orthopedist: You must sit with your back straight.

From now on, the health of your back thank you and the results of your actions (more confident) too!
