Athe partial strikes of Wednesday and Friday in the Metropolitan of Lisbon will be dismissed, after the minimum services decreed by the Arbitral Court, because the trade unions consider that the decision calls into question the safety of users and workers.
“ We have therefore sent a communication to the workers and to the Economic and Social Council itself, where we inform them that the strikes of 28 and 30 days will be dismissed”, said trade union leader Sara Gligó to Lusa.
According to the leader of the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (Fectrans) and the STRUP – Union of Road and Urban Transport Workers of Portugal, “the Arbitral Court decided to set minimum services, to circulate compositions, and in the manner in which the company actually requested”.
“ We believe that this decision contradicts existing case-law, calls into question the safety of users and workers themselves to operate under the conditions that have been decreed, even this judgment allows the replacement of workers on strike by workers who are not qualified for these functions,” he said.
