It all indicates that Apple will launch its first folding screen iPhone this year and, according to the latest Counterpoint Research report, this factor will contribute to the increase in the average price of mobile phones in this category.

Um report shared by Counterpoint Research indicates that the first iPhone with folding screen should help increase the price of folding phones. Although Apple's first mobile phone for this category is not the only factor in helping this trend, the report notes that it will play (still) an important role.
Counterpoint Research notes that in 2026 the price of folding phones will reach an average value of $1,485 (EUR 1,297) – an increase of 18% over 2025 and 29% over 2024.
The report explains that there has recently been a division in this category where, depending on the design of the folding cell phone, it can become cheaper (for those of the “shell”, similar to Galaxy Z Flip) or more expensive (for those of the “book”, similar to Galaxy Z Fold).
It is believed that the foldable iPhone is more in the premium segment, with forecasts pointing a final value between the 2,500 and 3,000 dollars (EUR 2,184 and 2,621).
For Counterpoint Research, it is believed that “Apple’s entry into the foldable category should boost the upward trend of the average price by retaining market attention in the highest price segment”, stressing that “it will help increase interest in software continuity, app support and productivity in all categories of foldables and help establish this category as a high-value segment within the mobile phone market”.
Remember that the first open-screen iPhone has an official announcement scheduled for the end of the summer, more precisely for the month of September at the annual Apple event where brand new products are usually presented for the second half of the year.
