Swedish court condemns Google to pay EUR 1.3 billion

A Swedish court today sentenced Google to pay SEK 14,3 billion (about EUR 1,3 billion) to price comparator PriceRunner because it considered that Google illegally favored its own service.

A Google spokesman had declared in October that the company “he firmly opposed this lawsuit and looked forward to the opportunity to present his arguments” before the court.

As early as 2021, the Court of Justice of the European Union confirmed a decision of the European Commission dated 2017 that “Google has infringed competition law by favoring its own online shopping service”.
