A Netflix is developing a live-action adaptation based on the franchise of Japanese RPGs “Personala”. The information was advanced by Variety magazine, which obtained information from its sources.
The game franchise “Personala” is developed by an internal division of the Japanese producer Atlus and counts on Sega as a publisher. It is known that this adaptation will be a series and that among the producers will be Toru Nakahara – executive of Sega who is also producer of the films “Sonic the Hedgehog”.
The available information indicates that Christopher Monfette (“Star Trek: Picard”, “12 Monkeys” (by SyFy) and “9-1-1”) is associated with the project and should be the screenwriter, showrunner and executive producer.
Remember that, as with other Japanese RPG sagas such as “Final Fantasy” and “Dragon Quest”, each of the games “Personal” has its own story and cast of characters. Traditionally, the plot follows a group of students who fight evil forces with the help of spirits at night while dealing with their daily obligations during the day.
At the moment there is no opening date for this Netflix series based on “Personala”, and the company also has not officially confirmed the project.
Remember that the last game of the saga was “Personala 5” and was released in 2017, and more recently, in February 2024, the remake “Personala 3 Reload” was released. On February 18, 2027 the players will have the opportunity to play the “Personala 4 Revival” (one more remake), and the next great game of the saga, “Personala 6” was announced recently and (for the moment) has no announced release date.
