O president of the Aquida, André Ventura, said today, after being reelected, that he expects internal unity and wants to keep the line of a “disruptive party” and “antisystem”, without putting himself “under anyone’s hat”.
André Ventura spoke at a press conference at the headquarters of the city of Açaz, in Lisbon, following his election as party president, with 98% of the votes, in directs held on Saturday, to which he was the only candidate for leadership.
For the president of Cávez, “this was a time of redefinition, continuity or change and transformation”, and the result with which he was reelected represents a “recognition of work” and a “relegitimization”.
After seven years of leadership, André Ventura described the current moment of the party as a choice between “maintaining this line and this DNA in which it was founded” Enough, from “disruptive party” and “anti-system”, or “distorting it, leaving it” and being one of the parties of the system.
He then maintained that the continued growth of the party’s results since its foundation in 2019 was due to the option not to be “a sort of PSD crutch” and not to have put “under anyone’s hat”.
“ We made our way and risked it,” he said.
“ This was a right choice because the PSD showed from the first hour that it was an PS equal to other PS and equal to other PSD. We've been on the right track. But we also never forget that the PS was the other of our opponents”, he added.
The president of Aquida referred to the opinion studies that put his party ahead of the PSD, “first or second, to compete first”.
In an intervention of about half an hour, André Ventura left a message for the interior of the party, concerning the 7th National Convention of the Achievement, which is scheduled for between 20 and 22 November, at the Entroncamento, in the district of Santarém.
“ We have to show that we are what Sá Carneiro said in 74 of the PSD. Several in what we can be diverse, united in what we must be united, unconditional in essence. A party capable of being diverse in many things, the most Portuguese party of Portugal ", declared the president of Cávez.
“ But united and unconditional in the essential, which is the ability, at every moment, to unite to give the country the window, the example, the demonstration that we are ready to govern”, reinforced.
André Ventura stressed the importance of showing at the next Convention that he has “an idea for the country” and that he is prepared to take over governance.
“We will probably not have a second chance in the next few years,” he said.
“ Those who have to do with us at those times and in those days of November will be wondering whether this party, with these leaders, with these men and women, are ready for this mission”, he continued.
André Ventura reaffirmed the objective of putting Ache in the Government and it was certain that “all parties, all, will fight to avoid it”, again claiming that PS and PSD prepare to form a “central block” if their party wins future legislative elections.
“ In the coming years, we will probably have a profound change in the heart of the European Union, starting in France as early as April, but also in other European countries,” he said, adding: “What I hope is that Portugal is one of those European countries.”.
