A time Formula E finished in glory for Pascal Wehrlein, who became world champion. However, there was another controversy with António Félix da Costa, which led the german to criticize the portuguese rival.
In the second race of London, held yesterday (16 August), Felix da Costa held Wehrlein behind you for a long time, trying to help Jaguar teammate Mitch Evans, who was in the title fight. He even put the Porsche Germanic out of the loop after forcing him to widen a trajectory. And in the end, Pascal Wehrlein really missed the points.
Félix da Costa’s stance did not please the new two-time champion, who said he was quoted by the Motorsport website. with: “The way Antonio flew is one of the most unsporting and dirty things I've ever seen. That's what happens if you have enemies on the paddock. Still, we did it. There's another message. I don't forget things. [...]. Next year, I will not forget what happened here.”.
The new world champion even accuses Jaguar and Félix da Costa of having a tactic of damaging their outcome, saying at a press conference that the rival's actions were unpredictable. And he stressed: “The approach was to destroy my raceTake me off the stitches. Even when Mitch was way ahead, kept blocking me and pushing me off the track“.
It should be noted that António Félix da Costa and Pascal Wehrlein were teammates at Porsche, where the relationship between them began to get tense. The two were leading controversial incidents on the track when they were still pairing up with the German manufacturer until last year.
Wehrlein champion without scoring
Despite finishing points in the last race, Pascal Wehrlein consumed his second Formula One title. And with five more points than Jake Dennis (Andretti/Porsche) – who also failed points in the final race of the season. Mitch Evans (Jaguar) closed the year third to nine points in the title. Wehrlein is the second, after Jean-Eric Vergne, to become twice the Formula E champion.
The victory of Sunday in London smiled at Taylor Barnard (DS Penske), which thus secured a triumphant farewell to the formation of the French brand that will leave the championship. He beat Nyck de Vries (Mahindra), with the podium being closed by Edoardo Mortara (Mahindra).
António Félix da Costa also did not score when cutting the target in 15, concluding the championship in sixth. Helped Jaguar to be team champion 288 points, 17 more than Porsche.
