A Junta de Freguesia de Avenidas Novas, in Lisbon, instituted disciplinary proceedings to two superior technicians and determined the preventive suspension of functions for 90 days, following alleged harassment and instigation situations, the municipality informed.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Board of Freguesia de Avenidas Novas, Daniel Gonçalves (PSD), the Lisbon City Hall indicates that the measures were approved at an executive meeting held on 23 September, adding that the non-renewal of contracts was also reported to several service providers, including one person from the legal office.
In the note it is mentioned that the workers, employees and elected of the Junta de Freguesia de Avenidas Novas “have been the target of anonymous communications by electronic and telephone, with alleged falsehoods, insults and slanders, with defamatory, insulting and intimidating content”.
“ There are also anonymous written threats addressed to the chairman of the Board of Freguesia de Avenidas Novas, Daniel Gonçalves, continuously”it's in the press release.
The municipality further points out that, on September 4, the Public Security Police (PSP) seized two mobile phones at the headquarters of the municipality, one of which will have been used to record, in a hidden way and without the knowledge or consent of the actors, a meeting on delicate matters.
According to the Junta de Freguesia, the person who performed the recording stated that he was “manipulated and instigated” to report against another service provider, and later stated in writing and voluntarily that the initial accusations were false and aimed at causing harm.
The junta points out that these complaints are distinct from the facts that motivated disciplinary proceedings and that it informs the prosecutor of formal complaints to the police authorities, as well as statements and evidence, for the clearance of facts and possible criminal responsibilities.
The municipality also informs that it has filed a criminal complaint against suspects, to investigate the authorship and responsibilities of the reported attacks, including the use of e-mail addresses and fake profiles on social networks.
