O extreme heat during the day continues during the night. Getting to sleep can translate into a complicated task, but nothing that hints don't help. If you want to freshen up the room and sleep well all night, it's best to follow these tips.

The House Beautiful website has spoken to some experts to see how you can refresh the room and sleep well all night without worrying about the heat.

Extreme heat: How to cool the room

“One of the biggest impacts of heat waves is in sleep,” started by Ben Roberts. “People have difficulty sleeping, and this sleep ordeal eventually accumulates, reduces productivity and increases the risk of diseases over time,” he continues.

1- Change the bed linen

The ideal is to wear bed linen with breathable and light fabrics. “One of the simplest ways to keep fresh is to change winter’s heavy linen for lighter and breathable fabrics,” says Josh Branigan of Bed Kingdom. “Cool and flax allow air circulation and helps absorb moisture. It will make a difference in warmer nights.”

2- Let the bed cool before bed

There are several tricks you can put into practice. One of them, and suggested by a Sleepy Piglet expert, is to freeze a bag of hot water. “It’s a trick known to be very simple and effective.” It reveals that you can put it next to your feet, since it is the area of the body most sensitive to temperature changes. “Another tip goes by putting a cotton shirt or towel in the freezer for a few minutes. You will get some relief during the night.”

3- Keep sunlight out during the day

“ Keep the blinds and curtains closed during the highest peak hours of the sun. The goal is to block the passage of light and prevent the room from getting too hot during the night. The best time to open the windows is during the night when temperatures are milder and in order to allow cross circulation.

4- Use fans effectively

“Putting very close to the window helps to pull the freshest air into the room. If you put it in the middle of the room, it's just keeping the air running and not cooling. Ice or a fresh cloth ahead are ideas to cool off.

5- Organize space

Josh Branigan is of the opinion that the room should be arranged so as to become cooler and less stuffy. “Reducing excess objects improves air circulation and prevents the environment from getting stuffy or too crowded. It ends up keeping the space calmer and relaxing when the goal is to try to relax due to the heat.”

6- Choose light colors

“ Adding lighter colors can soon make your room look more light and cooler. Darker tones can absorb heat while lighter tones reflect light and help enlarge space.
