O Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today promised a “firm and forceful” response to the expulsion of a Russian diplomat from Moldova.
“ This decision of the Moldovan authorities is part of an anti-russian and destructive policy of the Chisinau Government,” said the spokesman for Russian diplomacy, Maria Zakharova, in a statement.
He added that Moldova is seeking “the total destruction of Russian-Modderal relations, dating back centuries, and the breaking of ties between the peoples of both countries”.
According to Zakharova, “these hostile actions of the Moldovan Government will not be unanswered by Russia, which will act firmly and forcefully”.
On the eve, Moldova announced that it declared ‘persona non grata’ a Russian embassy official in response to the violation of its airspace by a drone.
The Moldovan Ministry of Defense had previously informed that on Friday an unmanned device hit a dwelling in the town of Chistelnita, in Telenesti district.
According to the Ministry of Defence, two further violations of the airspace of this former Soviet republic have also been recorded this week, which has repeatedly accused Moscow of allowing drones to enter its territory, near the border with Ukraine.
