Sand in every ten people “chumbam” the government when it comes to housing, a theme that in the last two weeks has marked the current. There are then only 7% that give positive marks to this Executive.

The data were revealed on Friday, from a Pythagorean survey made for TVI/ CNN Portugal.

The analysis shows that general dissatisfaction also extends to the electorate of AD. According to the information collected, 52% of the coalition voters who support the government give a negative note to how it has been acting, while 18% are satisfied.

Dissatisfaction “sinks” when respondents are people looking for homes, with dissatisfaction reaching 84%. As far as those who are not looking are concerned, there are 66% who are dissatisfied. Already 79% of young people – between the ages of 18 and 34 – are not happy either.

The survey also states that the assessment of the Portuguese to the set of measures for housing varies according to each of them with, for example, the possibility of the landlord asking for the rent in a value of his choice in a new contract to be rejected by 73%. On the other hand, 71% disagree to allow more advance income and higher collateral.

The possibility of ending the contract when there are two rents in delay is another topic, with 56% agreeing to this position.

As for the possibility of this renewal proposed by the Government bringing more offer, there are 55% of respondents who doubt that the owners will put more houses to rent.

The proposal for a government law to amend the urban lease scheme was approved at the beginning of the month, in general in Parliament, due to the abstention of the Aquida, after the Government had expressed its willingness to negotiate “improvements” in the specialty. More flexible contracts and faster evictions are some of the measures included in the proposed law to amend this scheme.

Moreover, there are procedural formalities that disappear: while until now a court decision in favour of eviction opened another procedure for the execution of the eviction, and only then led to the eviction itself, the government's proposal eliminates this step and the initial opinion of a judge is sufficient.
