A kitchen countertop can serve for much more than to prepare a set of dishes and meals. It can also be very useful to exercise and tonify the belly. You don't believe me? See what a personal trainer suggests.

Tyler Read is a personal trainer and signed an article for the Eat This website, Not That in which he made known a set of exercises he can do with the help of the kitchen countertop and which are very useful when the goal is to tone the belly.

Exercises you can do on the kitchen counter

“ One of the advantages of exercising at home is being able to do so at any time and at your own pace. It is difficult to keep your own pace in a room where the main function of the instructor is to motivate ", starts by saying PT.

It reveals that the kitchen countertop can be much more useful than cutting potatoes or preparing a roast to put in the oven. “A solid kitchen countertop offers a stable platform for training. Instead of rushing to keep pace with the class, it can slow down and control the movement, keeping the muscles contracted with each repetition,” continues Tyler Read.

One of the first exercises you suggest is arm push-ups on the bench. “The push-ups strengthen the entire abdominal region, beyond the shoulders, triceps and chest. This variation in traditional flexion, made on the bench, allows more repetitions than standard flexion on the floor, which increases heart rate and burns abdominal fat.”

On the other hand, in the kitchen also manages to make a leaned board with knee lift. “Using the kitchen counter allows you to do this exercise without the effort to lower to the ground. This variation changes the angle, but still requires the core to stabilize the body.”

Tonify in the kitchen? Squatting and more

Here too it is possible to do squatting. Tyler Read explains how you do it and the advantages of using the kitchen countertop. “If you want a firmer abdominal region, you need to work the whole body. Squats with body weight use quadriceps, gluteus and core. The more muscles you use at the same time, the greater the requirement for the body.”

Another exercise you suggest in the kitchen is named after countertop walkouts. “The walking exercise with the feet apart is an advanced movement that develops the stability of the shoulders and core. When walking with their feet and hands apart, the abdominal muscles need to contract to resist the challenge of unstable position. This version with bench support offers a more accessible option, allowing you to control the difficulty as needed.”

Finally, it explains that more can be done a squat version on the kitchen counter. “Unilateral work allows you to train each leg equally. Use the counter as needed to sweat hard without worrying about losing balance. This squat is a great exercise that not only strengthens the muscles of the legs, but also helps to control the deceleration.”
