Tpeople died and eight were injured after an Israeli air raid on a university in Gaza, according to local Palestinian sources that also indicate four other fatalities elsewhere in the territory.

The news agency France Presse contacted the Israeli army who said he was checking that data.

The attack of an Israeli drone with “target” at an Islamic university in Gaza in the northern part of the territory killed three “security members” and injured eight students, several sources from the educational institution told AFP.

Al-Shifa Hospital, located in the city of Gaza, confirmed that after the attack it received three bodies and watched eight wounded.

The Ministry of Education of the Palestinian territory said that among the injured students who were in classes on the university campus, “some are in a serious state” and lamented “world silence in the face of attacks against students and universities”.

“ In the last six days, ten students and teachers were killed,” said the Ministry of Education, adding that “95% of university buildings” were damaged during the three years of war between Israel and Hamas.

According to Gaza's Civil Defense, a relief service operating under the authority of the Hamas Islamic movement, four people were also killed elsewhere in the territory.

Two people died in an air raid in Khan Younès (south), another in Deir al-Balah (central Gaza), and a fourth victim was following Israeli fire in the north of the Gaza Strip, AFP was told the spokesperson for the rescuers.

Israel and Hamas accuse each other of violating the ceasefire which entered into force on 10 October 2025, after two years of war triggered by the unprecedented attack of the Palestinian movement on Israeli soil on 7 October 2023.

More than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed since then, according to the Ministry of Health of Gaza, under the control of Hamas, whose figures are considered reliable by the United Nations (UN).

According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), more than 340 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of the ceasefire.

Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive following the attacks of Hamas on 7 October 2023 – which caused the death of more than 1,200 people and in which 251 were taken hostage – the number of deaths in Gaza exceeds 74,469, while the number of Gazans injured, many with amputations and permanent injuries, is around 175,500, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
