A popular assembly of the Camp of Lisbon decided today to set up tents in front of the Assembly of the Republic on Tuesday night, after the protest against the State Budget for 2027, leaving open the proposal to stay overnight on site.
The proposal discussed at the end of the popular assembly, which took place from 19:30 in Praça Dom Pedro IV in Lisbon, initially provided for the holding of a camp in front of the Assembly of the Republic from Tuesday to Wednesday, anticipating the vote in general OE2027.
However, the vote was not consensual, with several participants expressing concern about the possible response of the security forces, while others stressed the need to pressure the parliamentary groups to halt the government proposal.
In view of the lack of consensus, the organization proposed, alternatively, to appeal to the people who will participate in the demonstration called by the platform “House to Live” – and that will take place on Tuesday from 18:30 in front of the Assembly of the Republic – take tents and mount them on site after the protest.
The proposal was approved, with a majority of abstentions and about 90 votes in favour, leaving open the possibility of staying overnight on the spot, a hypothesis that will be discussed in the popular assembly of Tuesday, which will follow the demonstration against the OE2027.
The Lisbon Camp returns to Rossio on Wednesday to the usual popular assemblies at the end of the day.
