News to Minutes

O Palmeiras, from Abel Ferreira, again took the provisional leadership of Brasileirão, after having received and beaten, on Saturday night, the RB Bragantino (2-0). At the same time, Neymar was the protagonist of a controversial expulsion, applied based on the ‘Prestianni law’, the Santos tie against Bahia.

What happened at Palmeiras' borrowed house?

The match between Palmeiras and Bragantino took place at Arena Barueri, contrary to what happens in the home games of Abel's team, since Nubank Parque will be the stage of the Iron Maiden concerts, which will have a double session (Sunday and Tuesday) which is part of the “Run for your lives world tour”, the tour that celebrates the 50 years of the band.

Despite playing at home borrowed, Palmeiras did not reveal adaptation problems and the interval was already in an advantage. Sosa opened the marker at 20 minutes, but saw the VAR go into action and the goal was cancelled.

At 32 minutes, the same player had a great penalty, but did not even hit the goal, remaining the null on the marker.

The luck, however, would end for the visitors, since even before the end of the first part the referee marked a new great penalty for Palmeiras, again committed by Guzmán Rodríguez. This time, it was Maurice who advanced to the mark of maximum punishment and did not forgive, putting the caretakers to win.

In the second part, Bragantino still managed to outline a reaction, but Palmeiras would settle the accounts at 77 minutes, through Giay, which best ended a beautiful collective move.

With this victory, Palmeiras again surpassed Flamengo, but on a provisional basis, since Leonardo Jardim's team has less than one game played. For now, Abel is leading 69 points, plus two against the countryman.

Pollemic in the village Belmiro

More troubled was the game between Santos and Bahia, with Neymar receiving expulsion order even before the start of the second part. Before that, visitors took advantage of the marker at 39 minutes, through a goal pointed by Luciano Juba.

However, and even before the ball rolled in the second part, Neymar got involved in an argument with some Bahian players and ended up holding hands to head to Nestor. Arbitrator Sávio Pereira Sampaio was advised to go and consult the images by the VAR and ended up showing the red card to Santos crack, applying the Prestianni law.

Despite having played the whole second part in numerical inferiority, Santos would still end up rescuing the draw already in discount period. Luan Peres, assisted by Benjamin Rollheiser (former Benfica), restored the draw, motivating the party at Vila Belmiro.

With this tie, Bahia and Santos remain side by side in the classification table. The first now counts 50 points, being in seventh place, while right behind is Santos with four fewer points.

Leonardo Garden in the Final Liberators? Ex-Sporting can cause ‘bomb’

Flamengo proceeds with a complaint against Estudiantes at CONMEBOL, alleging irregular use of Marcos Rojo, former Sporting player, in the second half final of the Libertadores Cup, in which Estudiantes eliminated Leonardo Jardim's team, in the tiebreaker for major penalties.
