J64-year-old úlia Pinheiro publicly marked World Menopause Day. The date, celebrated on October 18, led the presenter to reflect on the subject and speak in her personal experience.
“Yes, I am a woman in the middle of menopause,” he started by referring to Júlia Pinheiro, who for some years decided “to speak publicly, without filters, about menopause because she considered it still a taboo theme.”.
“I reiterate that menopause is not a disease, it is not the end and most important of all: it is not a sentence of invisibility. It is a hormonal, physical and emotional revolution that happens to us without asking for permission and that, let’s face it, could have chosen a less exuberant way to manifest.”
The host of the SIC reported all the symptoms that are still part of her life, but reinforced that not even the “sleep nights”, the memory that “takes vacation without notice” or “impatience” that “takes” cancel it.
“ The rules of the game may have changed, but menopause does not nullify us and quite the contrary: it takes away some filters we have self-imposed throughout our lives. Talking about shameless menopause and no taboos is the way we're fighting together.
Going into menopause is not leaving the scene, it's moving on to act two. Ladies and gentlemen, menopause is to be vocal and use maturity to assert ourselves.”
Finally, he added to his words photographs that show “a woman in menopause who likes what she sees when she lets herself be photographed”. Here is the full sharing and the images in question:
