River transport Trafaria-Porto Brandão-Belém restored

O vehicle transport service on the Trafaria-Porto Brandão-Belém river crossing, which was interrupted since Wednesday due to technical constraints in the fleet, was restored tonight, the Transtejo Soflusa reported.

“The vehicle transport service is restored. From this moment on, the regular service on this river link is standard” says the company in a notice placed on its official page at 8:58 p.m. today.

On Wednesday the Transtejo Soflusa had issued a notice indicating the interruption of the service in forecast recovery ensuring that it was making efforts “to restore the vehicle transport service as soon as possible”.

During the temporary interruption period, the passenger transport service was carried out, as usual, according to the current schedule.

This connection had resumed on October 12 after an interruption of almost a month following an occurrence with the Lisbonense ferry, on arrival at the Trafaria river station, after leaving Belém at 9:00 p.m.

“The vessel, which carried 27 passengers and two cars, apparently suffered a breakdown in one of the machines, and there was a collision at the point of the Trafaria river station and later in a Silopor structure,” said the company in a statement released on September 4.

According to the company, “two minor injuries, both crew members of the vessel, and damage to one of the vehicles transported” resulted and, after the incident, Lisbonense was towed by an electric ship from TTSL to the point of the Trafaria river station, “where the safe landing of passengers and vehicles was carried out”.

Transtejo ensures the river connections between Lisbon and the South Bank from Barreiro, Belém, Cais do Sodré, Cacilhas, Montijo, Pedroulços/Algés, Porto Brandão, Seixal, Trafaria and Terreiro do Paço.
